If you have special needs and want to participate in High School sports, the only opportunity might be a supporting role. In 2011, the Utah High School Cycling League was organized under the National Interscholastic Cycling Association. The vision of the Utah Cycling League is, "To Enable Every Utah Teen to Strengthen Body, Mind, and Character through the Lifelong Sport of Cycling". One of their 5 core principles is inclusivity. In 2015, the league created a new division for those with disabilities or special needs, called "Elevate".
In 2016, a new partnership with the National Abilities Center (NAC) will enable the league and it's teams to provide extra care, instruction, and equipment for both physically and mentally disabled youth and increase the number of participants.
